The Molekule mobile app now offers a section called 'Outdoor Air' located within the Air Quality tab at the bottom navigation menu (USA customers only). This feature offers powerful insights into the current air quality conditions using the EPA AQI index, pollen index, and weather information for your specified location. This allows you to better understand the relationship between indoor and outdoor air quality, respond to current air/weather conditions, be informed about conditions that may impact some allergies, and overall have a better picture of the air quality all around you.
Important Notes:
- This feature is only available to customers located in the United States with at least (1) Molekule purifier/product linked to their account.
- Must use a valid USA zip code to specify location. US-English language only at this time.
- Outdoor air insights data is powered by our partner, tomorrow.io
- Outdoor air data is only refreshed each time you launch the mobile app, or when changing your selected location (zip code). To refresh the data, please close the app completely, then simply launch it once more.
'Outdoor Air' allows you a holistic overview of the outdoor air quality data for your specific location, based on your USA zip code.
This includes the current Air Quality Index (AQI) score/rating, as well as specific details regarding the top pollutants that are used to calculate AQI, including PM 10, PM2.5, Ozone (O3), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Carbon Monoxide (CO), and Sulfur Dioxide (SO2).
Each individual pollutant will show a relative quality indicator label (as defined by the AQI - Good, Moderate, Unhealthy, Unhealthy for sensitive groups, etc.) as well as the current measured pollutant value below the title.
(For information regarding the EPA's Air Quality Index, how it is calculated and/or used to inform you, please visit the EPA's website here.)
Tap the 'See more' option to view the full list of top pollutants.
Tapping the down arrow icon to the right of each top pollutant will display additional details and specific pollutant level readings for you to explore.
'Outdoor Air' also displays information regarding the current Pollen Index information available for your selected location for Tree, Weed, and Grass. These indicators are based on the pollen index provided by our partner, tomorrow.io - These indices are based on a numerical scale of 0 to 5, with 0 being the lowest value of 'None' and 5 being the highest value of 'Very High'. Each pollen indicator will display the numerical rating, as well as the text label for the current value identified. Using the pollen index information can help better inform allergy sufferers of the current conditions in their local area.
We also include current Weather information available for the selected location/zip code. Temperature is provided along with Humidity and Wind conditions.
(Note: Weather information may vary between other 3rd party sources depending on your specific zip code, due to differences in hyper-localized readings as compared to other sources.)
How to Assign Your Location:
Either from a dynamic pop-up announcement in the app, or from with the Air Quality>Outdoor Air tab, you will be presented options to assign your current location to view Outdoor Air information.
Tap 'Assign location', then enter the zip code for the location in which you wish to view Outdoor Air information, and tap 'Submit'.
How to Edit Your Location:
From the Outdoor Air section of the Air Quality tab, look for the small pencil icon to the right of the currently assigned location, and tap on it.
On this screen, enter a new/different zip code than what is currently assigned, and tap on 'Confirm'.
Note: You will be required to enter a new/different zip code which is not currently assigned when using the edit location function.
