You can easily connect your Molekule device to a mobile hotspot. This option may be useful if you are having trouble connecting to your home Wi-Fi network.
You will need to enable your personal/mobile hotspot first, and have this network’s name and password ready to use during the purifier setup process in the Molekule mobile app. Please follow the instructions below, based on the type of mobile phone/device that you use.

Instructions for iOS users:
- First, open the settings on your iOS device and make sure your Personal Hotspot is enabled. See more here.
- For newer versions of iOS, please make sure to toggle the feature for ‘Maximize Compatibility’ to ‘On’ - This will assist your iOS Personal Hotspot in broadcasting on 2.4GHz, allowing your Molekule purifier to connect. See more here.
- Set the password for your mobile hotspot. We recommend using a simple password, to make the setup process easier within the mobile app.
- Now you can launch the Molekule mobile app and setup your Molekule purifier to connect to your Personal Hotspot, as you would connect to a typical Wi-Fi network. Note: If using this process on a single iPhone isn't working you, try enabling the hotspot on one phone, and use a second mobile device (e.g. iPhone, iPad or mobile phone/tablet) to install the Molekule app and go through setup.
- If your Personal Hotspot is not appearing in the list of available networks you may also refer to the Apple Support troubleshooting steps here.
- Once your Molekule purifier is connected, you will need to allow it time to download and install the latest firmware update. This may take up to 15 minutes, depending on the network connection speed and quality. If you aren’t sure whether your device has updated, you can check the current firmware version by visiting ..More>Tap on your purifier from the list>Select ‘Purifier details and review the ‘Firmware’ entry. See the latest firmware version for your device here:
- Once your firmware has been updated to the latest version, you can follow the steps here to remove your purifier from the mobile app, reset it, then attempt to connect to your home Wi-Fi network once more. As a reminder, Molekule devices are compatible with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks using WPA2 or lower security encryption settings. See more here.
Note: Personal Hotspot on iOS devices runs in WPA 2/WPA3 mixed security mode. This mode is supported by Air Pro FW 10.1.19.2 or greater AND Air Mini+ FW 9.4.28.6 or greater. For devices running an older FW version, please try using an Android device instead.
