PCO (Photo Catalytic Oxidation) is the original technology developed by our Chief Scientist, Dr. Yogi Goswami. PECO (Photo Electrochemical Oxidation) is the next-generation PCO that operates at significantly higher efficiency. The principle of oxidizing pollutants from the air was proven by the original PCO technology, but was highly ineffective due to its very slow rate.
Dr. Goswami published the principle of PCO. Despite its flaws, some companies decided to market the technology as PCO air purifiers. However, in search of a more effective technology, Dr. Goswami continued his research and development until he discovered the novel PECO technology. After years of research, PECO was finally suitable to destroy the broad spectrum of pollutants quickly and effectively.
Below are two graphs from the University of South Florida Clean Energy Research Center comparing PCO and PECO on destroying bacteria and mold.
